Monitoring elections in Afghanistan

Karin von Hippel of the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project at CSIS is on the ground in Afghanistan, watching as that country's people go to the polls.

She wrote last week that "no matter who wins the August 20 elections, the results will be considered a positive step for Afghanistan if they are perceived as mostly free and fair," although she cautions that most  analysts expect some fraud and security problems.  Her colleague Rick Barton told Fox News this morning, when asked what he expects will occur today, "I expect almost everything to happen...This is a chance for the people to make their country safe and free of corruption."  Watch the interview:
