Iran allows U.N. inspectors to visit nuclear reactor

In an interview on World Focus, Charles Ferguson of the Ploughshares-funded Council on Foreign Relations discussed Iran’s recent decision to allow inspectors to visit its nuclear reactor once again. Calling inspections at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility “significant”, Ferguson said, “In principle, if Iran left the nonproliferation system, they could make weapons-grade uranium in a matter of a few months.  Now, that would just be maybe one bomb’s worth of material, so it’s likely that they would stay with the nonproliferation regime for some period of time, until they have a greater break-out capacity.”
