Struggle on the ground and online for Iranians

Ploughshares Fund board member and Iran expert Reza Aslan appeared on both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Rachel Maddow Show to report on what was "a very bad day" today in Iran. He agreed with Maddow's statement that the escalating crackdown had "risen to new levels of disturbing" but reported that both sides of the struggle were innovating ways to get their messages out through the internet.  Aslan, who believes that we are seeing just the beginning of an extended period of unrest, told Stewart that the current situation is no longer about President Ahmadinejad or a stolen election.  "This is about the future of the Islamic Republic and the legitimacy of that state."  Watch both interviews below.
