"Managing Abroad with Gridlock at Home: National Security Politics and Policy in Washington" Lecture

Strategic decisions on war, peace and budgets are increasingly distorted by fierce divisions between political parties and rival ideological camps.

Ploughshares Fund President Joe Cirincione and Executive Director Naila Bolus will use their combined 50 years of experience in Washington national security policy to explain the struggles over Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, nuclear weapons, and the emergence of China. They believe there is reason for optimism: a growing bipartisan consensus on many of these issues, obscured by the political battles.
