Los Alamos security flaws exposed

An Energy Department investigation into missing plutonium at a national laboratory concluded the lab miscalculated the amount at its facility and none was actually missing. Rather than clearing the laboratory, the investigation points out deficiencies.  "When you are in the nuclear weapons business, you have to keep precise track of every single thing from classified information to nuclear materials," said Philip Coyle of Ploughshares-funded Center for Defense Information.  Another Ploughshares grantee, the Project on Government Oversight, brought the incident to public attention after intercepting a scathing letter saying the lab had long ignored its deficiencies.
