Groups challenge Obama on whistleblower policy

The Project on Government Oversight and others will send a letter to President Obama criticizing whistleblower policies.  Sen. Charles Grassley and whistleblower groups say the omnibus spending bill, which would deny a salary to a federal manager who “interferes with or prohibits certain communications between federal employees and members of Congress,” undermines promises to protect government informants. Danielle Brian of POGO expressed surprise at Obama’s signing statement: “We were shocked by this move the president made. It was so different from the campaigner and Sen. Obama we have seen in the past. I honestly cannot guess what his motivation was.”
