Faith, security and nuclear weapons

On September 18th, the Yale Divinity School's Center for Faith and Culture hosted a wide-ranging conference called “Are We Safe Yet? Vulnerability and Security in an Anxious Age” to address urgent international security issues from a moral and religious perspective.  Ploughshares Fund’s own Naila Bolus addressed the question, “What Role, If Any, Does Vulnerability Play in Constructing Security in the Second Nuclear Age?’ (Click here to view a video of the proceedings.)  Bolus described what she called “a totally radical and dramatic conversation and thinking among conservatives and among unusual allies about how we achieve security in this new environment, namely, the achievement of a nuclear weapons-free world, or making progress towards a nuclear weapon-free world.”

The conference is an example of how Ploughshares Fund not only supports the work of influential people on nuclear issues, but acts as a partner and colleague as well, leveraging our financial support with collaborative efforts to educate, mobilize and advocate for nuclear policies that will reduce risks and move the world toward the goal of disarmament.
