Amb. Bonnie Jenkins confirmed as Undersecretary For Arms Control and International Security

Amb. Jenkins joins US Delegation to Geneva for U.S.-Russia bilateral Strategic Stability Dialogue
In a true win for national security, former Ploughshares Fund Board Member Bonnie Jenkins has been confirmed as Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security. Ambassador Jenkins joins Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman in Geneva in leading a delegation for U.S.-Russia bilateral Strategic Stability Dialogue.

The meeting follows up on a commitment made between President Biden and Russian President Putin to have a deliberate and robust dialogue between our two nations that will seek to lay the groundwork for future arms control and risk reduction measures, according to a statement by the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Russia.

Ploughshares Fund applauds the well-deserved confirmation.

“Through our Women’s Initiative, we have had the honor to work with Amb. Jenkins in our joint efforts to create a more inclusive peace and security field that centers people, not weapons, at the heart of its policies,” said Ploughshares Fund President Dr. Emma Belcher. “We are thrilled she will be bringing this understanding to her work to reduce nuclear, biological, and chemical threats worldwide.”
