U.S. to signal positive trajectory at NPT Preparatory Conference

After President Obama’s Palm Sunday speech in Prague, observers around the world are looking to next month's preparatory meeting of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) to gauge the seriousness of the Obama administration’s pursuit of its nonproliferation goals.  According to Deepti Choubey of the Ploughshares-funded Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, many non-nuclear weapon states are watching to see how high-ranking a delegation Washington sends to the event. "The administration should do its best to ensure that it sends the right team to the PrepCom and to the review conference. It should include high-level officials, which signal U.S. seriousness," she said.
