Panel for New America Foundation

At a panel for the New America Foundation titled "What Price Nukes?," Joe Cirincione spoke on the size of the U.S. nuclear weapons budget.  The panel was chaired by New America Fellow Bill Hartung. Joe was joined on the panel by Stephen Schwartz of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.  Stephen recently co-authored "Nuclear Security Spending: Assessing Costs, Examining Priorities" with Carnegie's Deepti Choubey. Joe argued that Congress must demand better accounting practices and must insist on more transparency in the weapons complex as we draw down forces.  This will not only save money; it will make us safer.
