President Obama announced his intent to nominate Bonnie Jenkins as Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs (with the Rank of Ambassador) at the Department of State. Dr. Jenkins, as a close colleague of Ploughshares Fund was profiled in our 2007 Annual Report [2], is Program Officer for U.S. Foreign and Security policy at the Ford Foundation [3], which collaborated with Ploughshares Fund on the Peace and Security Initiative [4]. She also served as counsel on the 9/11 Commission and recently served as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserves, completing a year of deployment at CENTCOM.
