New START: Overwhelmingly Supported by Newspaper Editorials and Op-eds

The Arms Control Association -- the authoritative source on arms control and a Ploughshares Fund grantee -- has compiled an extensive list of editorials and op-eds endorsing the New START treaty.  The modest, yet critical treaty would cut both sides' weapons stockpiles by about 30 percent and reestablish a tough verification system allowing U.S. inspectors to monitor Russian nuclear forces.

Since the treaty was signed by Presidents Obama and Medvedev in April 2010, it has received overwhelming support from the military, national security experts and the intelligence community.  Additionally, newspapers from across the country -- and even from our allies around the world -- have urged the Senate to ratify New START promptly.
