Ploughshares Fund Chain Reaction 2017: Meredith Horowski of Global Zero

The New Movement Against Nuclear Weapons

Watch Global Zero's Meredith Horowski at Chain Reaction 2017

Ploughshares Fund grantee Global Zero is a network of experts, artists, grassroots activists and student leaders working towards the elimination of all nuclear weapons, and Global Campaign Director Meredith Horowski was recently tasked with leading a "new large-scale grassroots campaign — of students, activists, community leaders, universities, institutions, cities, and elected officials — to powerfully reject Donald Trump’s sole authority to launch us into nuclear war."

On June 5, 2017, Horowski delivered a powerful speech at Ploughshares Fund’s annual Chain Reaction event in San Francisco. Watch the video in which she chronicles Global Zero's efforts to put nuclear weapons issues at the forefront of the 2016 US presidential election, and speaks passionately and knowledgeably about the key role millennials, women, people of color, and young people will play in galvanizing support for the elimination of nuclear weapons in the 21st century. We were proud to have her at our event, which also featured former Secretary of State John Kerry and Barbara Hall, creator of the successful TV series, "Madam Secretary."

Since its launch in December 2008, Global Zero has grown to include 300 world leaders and half a million citizens worldwide. Ploughshares Fund is proud to support the work of Global Zero to raise awareness of nuclear weapons dangers and build international support for a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
