David Holloway joined Ploughshares Fund’s Board of Directors in 1989. A professor of political science and history at Stanford University, a CISAC fellow, Holloway has served as chair of the International Relations Program, co-director of the Center for International Security and Cooperation, and director of the Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies. His research has focused on the politics of science and technology in the Soviet Union and the Soviet atomic project. His Stalin and the Bomb: the Soviet Union and Atomic Energy 1939-1956 was selected by the New York Times as one of the 11 best books of 1994. Holloway is a participant in the Hoover Institution’s groundbreaking initiative to build a world without nuclear weapons.
