Apply for a Grant
Ploughshares Fund supports organizations and individuals working to build a safe, secure, nuclear weapons-free world. We place very few restrictions on our grantmaking.
Please read our Funding Priorities to determine if your project fits into our areas of interest.
- There are no geographical limitations on our grants
- We fund direct lobbying programs
- We make grants to individuals
- We do not fund the production of films, videos, books, art projects or the research and writing of academic dissertations
If you are still uncertain if your project will meet our areas of interest, please submit a brief email describing your project. We will let you know if a full proposal is appropriate.
When to Apply
As of March 1, 2014, Ploughshares Fund will be accepting online applications only. Before applying, please take our eligibility quiz to find out if your project falls within our current funding priorities, and if eligible, to start the application process. While you can save your application information and return to it at a later time, we do recommend reviewing a pdf copy of our application questions before filling out the online version.
The Ploughshares Fund Board of Directors meets three times each year (winter, summer and fall) to award grants. The next deadline for proposals is 11:59pm on Monday, March 17, 2014. Proposals submitted by March 17 will be considered by the Ploughshares Fund Board of Directors in June 2014.
In between the three annual board meetings, Ploughshares Fund staff have the ability to make discretionary grants up to $25,000. These discretionary grants are used to support time urgent projects related to our highest priority funding areas, and projects must have a high likelihood of achieving short-term policy impact. To submit a discretionary grant request, please email a short concept note and project budget to discretionary(at)ploughshares(dot)org.
