Amid increasing evidence of divisions within the Obama Administration about nuclear weapons policy, nuclear experts are calling on the President to accelerate his efforts to achieve the vision of a nuclear weapon-free world he articulated in a groundbreaking speech in Prague [2] last April.
Ploughshares Fund President Joe Cirincione [3] told The Atlantic [4] that the Nuclear Posture Review [5] risks being hijacked by pro-nuclear development voices, including that of Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The Arms Control Association's Daryl Kimball [6] told the Associated Press [7]that President Obama needs to work "faster and harder" to build support in the Senate for ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty [8], a goal the President vowed in Prague to achieve.
