At a seminar organized by the European Policy Centre in Brussels, two former army generals-turned-analysts from India and Pakistan discounted the option of war between the two nuclear-armed nations, and stressed cooperation instead of confrontation. Retired Maj. Gen Dipankar Banerjee [2], Director of the Ploughshares-funded Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies [3] in New Delhi, said the crisis following the attacks in Mumbai last November has passed and "this phase of confrontation has ended.” Banerjee called for a boost in commercial and trade links and people-to-people contacts between the two sides.
