New America Foundation

Working to contain and eventually roll back North Korea’s nuclear program is a complex and long-term endeavor. But doing so is mandatory for progress on the broader nuclear reduction and elimination agenda. Ploughshares supports efforts that seek to inform and influence U.S. policy toward North Korea and also efforts that use so-called Track Two diplomacy – direct engagement by unofficial interlocutors. Tony Namkung is an expert on North Korea and has access to some of the highest levels of government in Pyongyang. He is part of a team of experts affiliated with the New America Foundation that will travel to North Korea and explore options for positive engagement, suggest projects that will build confidence and trust, and publish analyses about how best to engage with the DPRK.  Read more >>
