British Prime Minister Gordon Brown pledged to be at the forefront of the campaign to achieve “a world that is free from nuclear weapons,” and other European leaders have echoed his call. France, however, another of the 5 original nuclear weapon states, remains committed to modernizing its nuclear arsenal.
