Apply for a Grant

Ploughshares Fund supports organizations and individuals working build a safe, secure, nuclear weapon-free world. We place very few restrictions on our grantmaking. Specifically:

• There are no geographical limitations on our grants
• We  fund direct lobbying programs
• We make grants to individuals
• We do not fund the production of films, videos, books or the research and writing of academic dissertations

Please read more about our Funding Areas and peruse our Frequently Asked Questions to determine if your project fits into our areas of interest.  If you are still uncertain, please submit a brief email describing your project.  We will let you know if a full proposal is appropriate. Please send inquiries to proposals at ploughshares.org.

When to Apply

The Board of Directors meets three times each year to award grants. Ploughshares Fund staff may also consider requests for emergency funding on a discretionary basis.

For our Summer 2010 meeting, apply by close of business day March 5, 2010*.

Submission Requirements

• Send all inquiries and proposals to proposals@ploughshares.org
• We accept proposals submitted via email ONLY
• Proposals submitted by U.S. mail or Federal Express will not be accepted unless authorized by Ploughshares Fund staff prior to the submission deadline
• Do not send multiple copies or large attachments that exceed 2MB in size

  Note - We recognize that supporting material such as IRS letters of determination, published articles, etc. may be difficult to submit digitally. When submitting a proposal via e-mail, Ploughshares Fund will allow supporting materials to be submitted separately after the core proposal is received. Please note that any additional materials you send must be received within five days of the deadline.
