Jim Walsh of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) works to demystify the often confusing topic of North Korea. He is one of the few experts who has traveled to the DPRK and consistently meets with the country’s UN delegation in New York City to keep up to date on developments and prospects for useful engagement. Walsh’s key contribution to helping resolve the North Korean challenge, however, is his ability to quickly and clearly explain things through media appearances and writing. On issues as complex as nuclear weapons, and with a confusing case like North Korea, this clarity backed by sound analysis is essential to educating the public, media and policymakers alike.
