Don't Ignore North Korea
Kim Jong Il has been dead eight weeks, and commentators are still treating his successor, Kim Jong Un, as if he’s the latest celebrity teen star. But there’s more at stake than speculation over the young Kim’s staying power. Despite the understandable preoccupation with Iran and the specter of a European economic collapse, we are about to repeat past mistakes by ignoring a rogue state that already possesses nuclear weapons. Our new Executive Director Philip Yun has worked in government, business, policy and academia. He’s been on the board of Ploughshares for several years and is a well-known Asia expert. He lives in San Francisco’s Richmond District, not far from the Ploughshares office. A New Leader at a Key Moment
I’m thrilled to introduce Philip Yun as Ploughshares Fund’s new Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer. Philip has the talent, the drive and the know-how to help lead Ploughshares Fund to new levels of achievement. As many know, after fourteen years of outstanding leadership, our Executive Director Naila Bolus decided to leave this year to become the president of Jumpstart, an early education organization based in Boston. I joined Ploughshares Fund because of Naila. There is no one who could fill her shoes in exactly the same way.  Read more »
