Obama urged to drop missile shield

The Ploughshares-funded Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) urges President Obama to reverse Bush administration plans to locate parts of the U.S. missile defense system in Eastern Europe. David Wright of the UCS Global Security Program remarked, “President Obama should say no to deploying a missile defense system that offers no security benefits and needlessly provokes Russia. Missile defense is not a magic bullet. Real-world threats require real-world solutions.”
