Ex-Generals from India, Pakistan rule out war

At a seminar organized by the European Policy Centre in Brussels, two former army generals-turned-analysts from India and Pakistan discounted the option of war between the two nuclear-armed nations, and stressed cooperation instead of confrontation. Retired Maj. Gen Dipankar Banerjee, Director of the Ploughshares-funded Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies in New Delhi, said the crisis following the attacks in Mumbai last November has passed and "this phase of confrontation has ended.” Banerjee called for a boost in commercial and trade links and people-to-people contacts between the two sides.
