U.S. ahead of schedule reducing nuclear arsenal

The United States is two years ahead of the Moscow Treaty schedule in reducing its nuclear warheads, according to Hans Kristensen of the Ploughshares-funded Federation of American Scientists.  Kristensen noted that, over the past four years, Strategic Command decided “it can adequately meet the White House guidance with far less weapons.” Robert Norris of the Natural Resources Defense Fund added, “It is little appreciated or known that the two Bush presidencies have gotten rid of three-quarters of the U.S. nuclear stockpile.”
