U.S. now sees Iran as pursuing a nuclear bomb

Joe Cirincione told the Los Angeles Times  that "when you're talking about negotiations in Iran, it is dangerous to appear weak or naive," noting a new tone in rhetoric from Washington.  President Obama and members of his administration, while calling for direct engagement in an atmosphere of mutual respect, have indicated that they believe Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons capability. Cirincione said that Iran has made more progress in that direction in the last five years than in the previous ten.
