Money Well Spent
Citing examples of its "strategic brilliance," authors Paul Brest and Hal Harvey profile Ploughshares Fund in their new book, Money Well Spent: A Strategic Plan for Smart Philanthropy. “Many small foundations have distinguished themselves through clarity and focus and have become leaders in their respective fields," they write. "Ploughshares became a leader in its field by building a smart staff, establishing a distinguished board of advisors, and consulting widely and wisely.” Read more about the book, including reviews and information about the authors here.
Unsung Hero Award
On December 3, 2009, Ploughshares Fund’s Executive Director Naila Bolus was honored with the Unsung Hero Award by the Center for Nonproliferation Studies. CNS Deputy Director Dr. Patricia Lewis remarked, “Naila is the salt of the earth. She is rooted in the values of this great country and has been a bedrock of support and encouragement for the world of nonproliferation and disarmament.” Lewis called Naila a “leading light” in advancing women’s leadership in the international peace and security field.
Charity Navigator
Ploughshares Fund has been awarded the top rating by Charity Navigator, America's largest independent evaluator of charities. Charity Navigator's rating system evaluates two broad areas of a charity's financial health: organizational efficiency and organizational capacity. The ratings show potential donors how efficiently Charity Navigator believes a charity will use donor support right now, and how the organization is positioned to continue providing programs and services in the future. Convio Innovator’s Award

The Peace Primary, Ploughshares Fund’s campaign that asked the public to “make peace a priority" in the 2008 election by “voting” online with their dollars, was recognized as the top online fundraising campaign of 2008 by Convio, the nation’s leading constituent relationship management company for nonprofits. The Peace Primary commemorated Ploughshares Fund’s 25th anniversary by helping twelve organizations raise funds to promote their agendas of peace and human security during the election season. The campaign helped the groups raise over $300,000 for their work.
